GBN Group Rules of conduct

The following rules and etiquette guidelines apply to all groups managed by GBN , a wholly owned subsidiary of Mzansi Kool (Pty) Ltd, referred to as either GBN, Admin, Moderator, or any combination thereof.

By joining any of our Facebook groups, you automatically agree to the rules mentioned below.

These rules are subject to change at any time and without notice, and the onus is on the user to ensure they are familiar with these rules prior to joining any of the affiliated groups.

The groups provide members the opportunity to post and discuss any posts made by members of the group in the form of comments.

Failure to adhere to the rules and guidelines set out below, or to adhere to a request or instruction from admins/moderators, may result in your temporary or permanent removal from any/all affiliated groups.

The views expressed on the groups are those of individuals and not those of the admins/moderators, and we accept no responsibility or liability and will not entertain any claims resulting from posts or subsequent comments. The admins/moderators will attempt to make every effort to remove posts, however due to the volume of posts, we are not always able to see infringing posts, and thus, reply on the members of the group to use the report function provided by Facebook to notify us.

Group Admin will co-operate fully with law enforcement authorities in event of  any investigation into unlawful conduct by any member within the confines of our groups.

When writing a review, whether compliment/complaint, please ensure that:

You name the establishment. It serves no purpose to compliment/complain about a venue with no name. It also helps other guests and stops multiple comments asking for name, location, etc.

You are clear and concise. If something was good, say why, likewise if something was bad, please elaborate. Why was it bad? Slow, sloppy, cold, etc.

You are truthful. Omitting facts is the same as not telling the truth. Please bear in mind that there is a good chance that another guest, owner or staff member may also be on this group and can tell another side of the story.

Once an establishment has responded comments will be closed and the mater deemed resolved.

Photos and pictures aren’t required, but they do help give extra insight. Likewise, we don’t expect 1000 words, but please do include some written details when including pictures.

The admins/moderators reserve the right to remove any comments, posts or members, or muting of members for specified time periods without any correspondence.

When moderating comments or posts, we will try to not remove too many comments, however we will try to maintain certain standards with each thread.

The admins/moderators can and may delete comments/posts, lock posts, and/or remove/mute/block users without prior correspondence for violating any of the rules of conduct below, or as they see fit, including but not limited to:

 The relevance of the post or comment to the core ideology of the group.

The extent to which others will understand what is being said.

The extent of swear words, the degree of insulting language and the severity of the tone of the comment towards either the group, a group of people, or an individual.

Spam in the form of unauthorized advertisements, click-bait schemes or virus-based spam posts.

 Any posts or comments insinuating food poisoning or the like without pathological proof i.e. a lab report.

Any posts claiming that insects and/or foreign objects have been found in your food – Whilst we have no doubt this occasionally does happen, we have unfortunately had several instances where this is a ruse used to try to extort establishments.

Racist, sexist, offensive and abusive comments. Comments and individuals will be removed without warning.

Trolling or bullying will NOT be tolerated.

Any advertisements/community posts/etc. that have not been authorized by admins/moderators will be removed. Should you wish to post any of the above, please utilize the contact us page on our site to reach out to us.

In joining, members understand that they may, from time to time, be contacted by GBN via Facebook/Meta regarding promotions, specials and/or group changes.

Any advertisements in the form of self-promotion, or promoting the restaurant/service of a spouse, significant other or friend, i.e. if you have a vested interest in the business, will be removed. Repeat offenders will be muted or removed from the group.

Shared reviews from blogs/websites/pages are not permitted. If you share a review from your personal profile, ensure your privacy settings allow it to be seen. “Attachment cannot be viewed” posts will be removed.

Reviews that are not your own are not permitted. You cannot write a review on behalf of your mom who told you about her experience, this constitutes as hearsay. Only first-hand reviews by parties who were present and affected are allowed.

Reviews or in instances comments, may not pertain to experiences more than 3 weeks prior to posting – Out of fairness to all concerned, we cannot entertain experiences you had 18 months ago – This includes comments which attempt to contradict a posters experience based on your experience at some point in the past.

Please respect other people’s views and beliefs, and take the time to consider your impact on others when making your contribution.

Please do not post your reviews in other people’s post as comments, please rather write your own review.

Members who abuse the group and the comments facility by posting under aliases, or who simple post to incite arguments on the group will be warned and then removed should they persist.

Abbreviated/alpha-numeric/text language is not appreciated and should not be used. Please use full words and sentences so as to make your post or comment enjoyable to all.

Members are encouraged to report untrue, inaccurate, defamatory, illegal, infringing and /or harmful content on the group to the group admins/moderators, and the admins/moderators undertakes to remove such content if the person reporting the content can provide reasonable grounds to prove the alleged nature of the content. This can be done by using the built in “Report to admin” function on the group,

Members undertake not to post content on the group which may be illegal, defamatory, infringing, harassing, obscene, commercial advertising, profane, untrue, incorrect or harmful and the admins/moderators reserve the right to remove such content without prior correspondence.

We undertake to review any posts/comments reported to us. We do, however, reserve the right not to delete a comment or post reported as abusive if we feel it has not contravened our terms and conditions or the general rule of law.

Once a post has been resolved as determined by the admins/moderators, we reserve the right to lock the post.

Blocking any of the admins/moderators is grounds for immediate removal from the group.
